NEWSPAPERS publish plenty of great information that is so difficult to access online, for example, events coming up in the next few weeks, sports fixtures or just simple business directories.
Often the difficulty lies in the format the data is being produced, or there are not enough hours in the day to update it.
But what if a simple online form and display of information was available via the use of databases and input fields?
That's what was going around my head when I read an article on Mindy McAdam's website, who teaches university courses about online journalism, titled What journalists should know about databases.
You will see that I got involved in the comments because at the same time I was reading about some new tools being produced by Zoho, which revolve around databases and more importantly providing a way for them to be publicly available.
Their Zoho Creator tool was the one I was playing with to create a simple What's On calendar, which if I've set it correctly allows you to enter some details below:
