The most successful websites are often those where the users rule the roost, where site owners offer a base from which their readers and users grow a community on the web.
Today Steve Rubel, who is a leading figure within Edelman PR, outlines how newspapers and their websites could move forward to once again become essential to their readers.
He writes: "In short, they need to become destinations where almost all value is created by the 'readers', not by the publisher or journalists."
Hi Craig,
Just dropping by to say thank you for your time and trouble in helping me with my specific questions.
For me, the prospect of building a community is very exciting and in the instance of my new blog, I genuinely believe it can serve a purpose that mainstream media can't because of a perception that its subject area is too specialised.
As I have only been up and running less than a week, and have already had messages of support from the US and Ireland, it's great to see that the word is already getting out there. And a community is indeed starting to form.
Thanks again and all the best to you, Linda
