THE latest newspaper sales figures for national titles in the UK show an average of 11.3 million copies are bought each day.
This is the lowest total in half a century writes The Telegraph's Roy Greenslade.
There is no doubt that national newspapers are well aware that their days are numbered, in fact Roy Greenslade believes there will only be a handful of dailies in a few years.
What will be interesting to see is if local newspapers look at these figures and think they will have to do more to progress to the internet and offer other methods of accessing news.
Some of the national titles are able to afford to experiment and try things out, but whilst local papers struggle to sanction the slightest investment I doubt they will change very soon.
